Bombay House in Provo, Utah

Also, located in Sugar House in Salt Lake...

Favorite:

Ah Bombay House, such a good ol' favorite.
Apparently in India they make their food very, extremely, spicy-hot, so if that's your experience and didn't like it, give it another shot here at the Bombay House.
Just be sure to order your food mild or medium.

We're medium folks.

Vegetable Pakora: seasoned mixed vegetables
mixed with chickpea flour and deep fried
Pakora is one of our favorite Indian dishes.

Strawberry Lassi: refreshing yogurt drink
blended with strawberries and homemade yogurt

I just about drank this entire, tangy, strawberry lassi in one big sip.
Have you tried lassi?
Try the mango or strawberry lassi on your next visit to Bombay House.

Paneer Masala: homemade cheese cooked with bell pepper, onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, cream and spices
This was my first experience eating paneer.
It's cheese, so of course it was good.

Lamb Coconut Kurma: boneless lamb cooked with coconut milk, onions, garlic, ginger, tomatoes, cashew nuts, golden raisins and spices
The flavors and spices used in Indian food is a beautiful thing.

Garlic Naan: teardrop-shaped white bread baked in tandoor (clay oven) with a touch of garlic
Naan is basically a must-order when eating here. Can't go waisting the leftover sauce on your plate! Clean it up with our favorite, the Garlic Naan.

Cucumber Raita: a tangy mixture of cucumber, tomatoes, onions and spices
mixed with fresh homemade yogurt
An accompaniment to we-don't-know-what, but it was delicious to dip our naan in and to cool our spicy-hot mouths.

Peshawari Naan: Indian bread stuffed with a mix of coconut, raisins and cashews,
and baked in tandoor (clay oven)
This Peshawari Naan was a new one for us. A new crave! The mixture of ground up bits of coconut, raisins, and cashews was sweet & nutty. Loved it.
It actually took care of my sweet tooth (along with the lassi), and good thing too, because I was stuffed! I always want to order dessert here, but I'm always too full. I've heard good things about Indian Mango ice cream, so one of these days....

Family friendly. $10-15 per entree. A well-run business is how I feel about Bombay House.

La Jolla Groves in Provo, Utah

Like:

When discussing restaurants with others, I get asked about La Jolla Groves the most.
People already love this place, and I'm glad.

Such a beautiful atmosphere.

Complimentary Rolls

Strawberry Lemonade & Kiwi Lemonade

I will be honest; their entrées are hit or miss,
but I love their soups, salads, and desserts, so that is what I will feature in this post.

Such a refreshing salad! Be sure to order this in the Summer for the most flavorful watermelon chunks.

A Salad of Dried Cranberries, Apples, Apricots and Mixed Seasonal Berries with Toasted Pistachios and White Cheddar Cheese Over Fresh Salad Greens, Tossed in a Pomegranate & Honey Vinaigrette and Finished with a Slice of Candied Apple
Again, very refreshing & light.

Potato & Garden Fresh Leek Soup - $4.50 Cup/$7.00 Bowl

Very creamy, and without cream I might add, just frothed. Delicious.

Sample of Handcrafted La Jolla Groves Bakery Breads Paired with Fresh Fruit, Berries, Beehive White Cheddar, Gorgonzola, Swiss, Camembert Cheese and a Delicious Handmade Fruit Dipping Sauce.
A plate full of my most favorite foods is always a good thing.
I could eat this for my main course.

Lightly Blackened Salmon Salad with Mixed Fruit Salad $14.00

A Freshly-Grilled Salmon Filet on a bed of Mixed Field Greens, Topped with a Fruit Salsa that is Made with Apples and Berries
My mother enjoyed her salmon salad.

And on to--I dare say--the best part?
The desserts.

Moist Lemon Bundt Cake Served with a Handmade Crème Anglaise Under a Caramel Dome with Berries and Mint.
Reviewers on Urbanspoon agree, this cake is surprisingly delicious. Maybe "surprisingly" because how good can a lemon cake be, right? Well, it is. The caramel dome adds a pleasing crunch to each bite.

Orange Crème Brulee- $5

A Creamy Citrus Custard Served with a Coating of Caramelized Sugar Served with Fresh Citrus and Mint.
Not only crème brulée, but citrus crème brulée is quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Lemon Tiramisu - $6

Lemon Marscapone Cream Layered with Vanilla Genoise. Served with Crème Anglais and Finished with a Dusting of Chocolate
Holy moly, this lemon tiramisu, with chocolate dust instead of coffee, was divine.
The texture reminded me of a tres leches cake. Love it!

Mango Mousse Cake - $7

A Luscious Tropical Treat Made of Creamy Mango Mousse atop a Light, Buttery Cake.
Very pretty and very superb.

Don't forget to visit their bakery outside & around the right side of the restaurant.

Assorted Bread
Along with their freshly baked bread, they also have a wall of "day olds" usually half off.

Goodies
Pick juuuuuust one.

Soups
Soups to take home.

Pain au Chocolat

Fun flavors of jam!

Homma momma.

EVERYTHING made fresh from scratch, even the bread.

Boar's Head meats and cheeses--always a good thing.
I was informed that they use fresh meat every day. Any leftovers they either take home for their families, or give to the local homeless or hungry.

The Sarrano Ham is imported directly from Italy. She gave us a sample & I was sold.
Also, the flatbread was freshly cooked on the grill to-order.

Delish for reals.

So incredibly fun & personable.
These ladies know what they are doing.
